Converse citizens turn out in force

Protest weak wind regulations proposed by the lame duck Converse County Commission

As reported in the latest Douglas Budget, opponents of wind developments in the mountains packed the County Commission meeting on Tuesday, November 2. Commissioners had hoped to pass weak wind energy regulations following a single, one-hour hearing in the middle of the day. After more than two hours of citizen comments, nearly all urging tough regulation and preventing wind energy developments in the mountains, they tabled the regulations and agreed to further hearings to allow more citizens to express their views.
