Citizen Reaction to Industrial Development

Converse Planning & Zoning Commission hears from more than 100 citizens opposed to industrial development in the mountains

NLRA supporters packed the community room at the Converse county Courthouse on January 19 to urge the P&Z Commission to recommend to the County Commissioners a resolution barring large-scale industrial development at elevations above 5,500 feet in areas of the County south and west of I-25. Supporters also urged the P&Z Commissioners to adopt an immediate 90-day moratorium to preserve the status quo while the permanent resolution is considered. The P&Z deferred consideration to a later date.
